King Tiger armor vs Jumbo armor

Postby Nathan des Lessings » Wed 3 May 2017 22:26

Is there a reason why the Jumbo has more frontal armor that the King Tiger?
It can be argued that the Tiger has the wrong turret (porsche and not henschel) but still... :D

Turret armor gets valued more, KT has the P turret and with that lower frontal turret armor.

Btw is there any justified argumentation behind that?

It used to be that turret armour was valued more highly because of EE and ALB having tabletop mountains and the turret armour was a way of abstracting hull-down positions. With RD/SD style terrain you could do actual hull down stuff but it probably wouldn't work very well and would take a lot of time to do so the system has stayed.
What if Wargame stuck to timeframe?

The King Tiger with porsche turret has a glaring weakspot on the front of the turret, Jumbo has no such weakspot, this is why.

Consider this, the best allied AT gun AKA 17 pdr has 17AP, KT is pretty safe frontally ( and in the foreseen future, the 90mm gun of M36 jackson won't be that much better than 17pdr)

And maybe jumbo should get -1 frontal armor? I'm not sure, but consider jumbo is the only tank in ally arsenal which could withstand some punch I wouldn't recommend that.
Dear Eugen, Please give T-72BU its iconic red-eye shtora system back! It looks mean and awesome!

AFAIK no 90mm at all for the allies...So 17 pdr is the best AT they get.

Well the 90mm had APCR, I have no idea when it was introduced, but if I was to guess, it would be in '45.

No it was already available to atg crews during normandy. However the shell still had its issues and eugen said (iirc) that it wasn't available enough to put into the game.

Also remember that it is about balance. Not historic accuracy.
