Ranked/quickplay setup area

Postby Tigga » Tue 29 Jan 2019 21:52

I've been getting back into SD a bit now that I've seen SD2 is coming. One thing that seems strange to me is the change on ranked/quickplay to move the setup area so far forward. Somewhere between where it was and where it is now seems more reasonable, but right now I can spawn stuff that's already in range of the enemy. Seems a bit... close.

I guess this makes road rushes less powerful as one of the big advantages of road rushes was that you got to the centre line before you were expected. I think it's just a smidgen too close though: instead of rushes you have little to no warning of enemy positions and have to do a lot of micro in the first few seconds. Deployment areas should be at least 1.5km apart IMO. Closer than it used to be is fine, but too close is also bad. I guess this is more about SD2 than SD1!

Sounds like you played a "close combat" mode game. Everything starts really close. You can deploy troops without their transports.

No, I played quickplay. I'll check again if there's the option to remove the transports, didn't notice any.

EDIT: Ok, yes, I see that now. It's still far too close of a setup position for quickplay/ranked.
