Could you give me some more detailed localization guidelines?

Could you give me some more detailed localization guidelines?
I am a modder who wants to localize the language of the vanilla game.

I followed the mod manual, but the localization did not work.
I will describe what I did, and let me know if something goes wrong.
It would be better to explain it in more detail in a more procedural way, or to provide an example of the appropriate mode.

Below are the things I tried.
1. First, create the mode by following the manual
 -> move to game mod folder (~\Steel Division\Mods\)
 -> Run CreateNewMod.bat and enter the desired mod name in the console window that appears (mod name: testkk)

2. Modify the generated (testkk) mod
 -> Move to the created (testkk) mod folder(~\Steel Division\Mods\testkk\GameData\Localisation\) among the automatically created folders for localization.
 -> Modify MODDING.csv file in folder into notepad ++
 -> Modify the file as follows

Code: Select all

"TOKEN";"COMMENT";"DO NOT TRANSLATE";CONSTRAINT;"REFTEXT";"CLASSEMENT";"ExisteDansSlayer"
"PathfinAB";"패스파인더 comment";"패스파인더 test";;"패스파인더";;
"AB_CAMP";"캠페인 comment";"캠페인 test";;"캠페인";;
"AB_SKIRM";"스커머쉬 comment";"스커머쉬 test";;"스커머쉬";;
"AB_LOADING";"불러오기 comment";"불러오기 test";;"불러오기";;

-> save the file

3. generate mod
 -> Execute (~\Steel Division\Mods\testkk\GenerateMod.bat)file in the mod folder i created.
 -> Check the message that the mode was created.

4. Launch (Steel division)Game and mod application
-> Go to -> mod menu and apply testkk mod.
-> I did localization through the above process
"Campain", "Skirmsh", "Load" of Solo menu doesn't changed.
"Pathfinder" unit name of 101. Airborn Division doesn't changed.

Please let us know if you need more work or anything else missing.

Korean, I see. I happen to be in Seoul right now ;) I'm assuming that you're the guy trying to make the Korean Localization mod on the Steam Workshop?

All of your steps seem to be alright. I have not had a chance to look at the Modding.csv since the new patch, but based on what I read in the Modding Manual, what you have doesn't seem to be in the right format. What was your reasoning behind the 'test column'? According to this, the two columns of main concern should be the TOKEN and REFTEXT column, so you might want to skip some boxes. In the code you provided, it seems that you just had a blank for the REFTEXT column - your last token is in the "DO NOT TRANSLATE" column. That's because you have two semi-colons between your last and second-to-last tokens, indicating a line change. Try:

Code: Select all

"PathfinAB";"";"";"";"패스파인더";;
Use Excel or some free third party program for example LibreOffice - it might be easier for you to edit.

Also keep in mind that the font used ingame might not support Korean characters - it's a possibility made dangerous by the fact that we aren't able to change the font using these mod tools.

Again, I don't have access to the modding tools right now (my modding computer is in the US :() so this is just my guess.

First of all, thank you for your comment.
Wow, are you really in Korea? It's amazing. :D
Yes, because I want to make Korean localization mode in Steam Workshop as you guessed.
※ Since there is no specific explanation about the function of each column, So, I put various texts in order to test it.

I removed the text in the column that your mentions, like the code you suggested.
(Only the text of the token and reftext columns are left.)
And I applied the mod again and checked it in the game, but it still doesn't display. :?

Code: Select all

"TOKEN";"COMMENT";"DO NOT TRANSLATE";CONSTRAINT;"REFTEXT";"CLASSEMENT";"ExisteDansSlayer"
"PathfinAB";"";"";"";"패스파인더";"";""
"AB_CAMP";"";"";"";"캠페인";"";""
"AB_SKIRM";"";"";"";"스커머쉬";"";""
"AB_LOADING";"";"";"";"불러오기";"";""

Perhaps, It would be better if there was a clear answer from the person in charge of the production or dev company.

Okay, apparently, I was totally wrong in my guess of how the .csv format worked. (If someone knows better, please feel free to correct me.)

According to this, there shouldn't be semicolons at all. So it should look more like this:

Code: Select all

"TOKEN";"COMMENT";"DO NOT TRANSLATE";CONSTRAINT;"REFTEXT";"CLASSEMENT";"ExisteDansSlayer"
PathfinAB,,,,패스파인더
AB_CAMP,,,,캠페인
AB_SKIRM,,,,스커머쉬
AB_LOADING,,,,불러오기
I hope I'm not wrong about this. Again, please try editing with a real spreadsheet editor, it'll make both of our jobs a bit easier.

The way you suggested does not work.
So, I tried several test attempts.
I even thought the main menu might be an image.
So, it does not change even though we changed Hint2_3, the tooltip of boot camp.
I tried the following but none of them changed the display. :?

Code: Select all

"TOKEN";"COMMENT";"DO NOT TRANSLATE";CONSTRAINT;"REFTEXT";"CLASSEMENT";"ExisteDansSlayer"
M_LOADING,,,,로딩중...
PathfinAB,,,,패스파인더
AB_CAMP,,,,캠페인
AB_SKIRM,,,,스커머쉬,,
AB_LOADING,,,,불러오기,,
"Hint2_3",,,,"AUTO-COVER 명령은 모든 유닛의 기본사항 입니다4";;
"Hint2_3";;;;"AUTO-COVER 명령은 모든 유닛의 기본사항 입니다8";;

If you want multiple lines to work, you need to add "<p>" at the end of each line except the last.

For example, if you want to change the name of the Panzer 4 H and the Panzer III H :

Code: Select all

"Pz4H";;;;"Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf. H";;;"<p>"
"Pz3H";;;;"Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf. H";;;

I appreciate that, but I seem to have misunderstood my intention.
My purpose is to show the translated language in the game.
So I tried a way that the translated language could represent in various formats.
Which format is properly represented in the game.
But thanks for telling me how to put multi-line text.

He was just giving an example, not a piece of text for you to substitute? :?

But seriously, let's cut these syntax issues and stop using a text editor for .csv files.

Seriously, Do you think this problem is caused by the (notepad++)editor?
I also edited MS Office Excel and your recommended LibreOffice, and applied the mod.
Then I checked in the game, But none of them show the translation language.

Due to the problems described above, I wrote an article in this forum.
I really hope this problem is solved as soon as possible.
That way I can make the mod I want.

Hi,

I tried your localisation and I've got no issue with it. Can you look at your csv file encoding? It must be utf-8 without BOM
