Modding Music Files

Postby StalkerDellaNote » Sat 17 Jun 2017 23:16

I'm trying to run a test on a radio mod idea but I'm at a loss, to be totally honest I don't quite know what I'm doing here, I'm no good at modding, hence why I've never really delivered on my previous efforts with Wargame

What files am I supposed to mod exactly?
There's MusicInGame.ndf that seems where I need to be

But there's also

GameData>Sound>Settings>PerpetualMusic
What's going on with this thing here? will I need to mod this so my sound files play softly during gameplay?

**EDIT** I'm sure I'll figure it out myself sooner or later, I'm just a bit brain dead lately, just reaching out for an easy helping hand first and testing the waters to see if interest might even be there

Since SD:44 has the whole tabletop aesthetic I figured it only natural to have some era authentic music and radio news to enhance the experience, so I've cut some old CBS & NBC radio broadcasts (particularly news broadcasts about the war effort) from Summer1944 with some popular tunes from 1942-1944 for my own personal use while I play.

So i have the material, just lack the modding know-how

I thought it'd be pretty neato to make a mod so i don't have to have a separate program open and can share the experience with others that may be interest, but yeah.. I suck at this shit

I remember seeing PerpetualMusic.ndf but I don't remember MusicInGame.ndf. Can you post the code for both here because I am not at my modding computer?

First thing you need to do is that you're sound is in the correct format. Look at page 11? of the modding guide pdf. Then you put those in the assets folder and change the code to reference those files (take a look here for some help: viewtopic.php?f=205&t=60077#p1035976)

Also, you're in luck because Ginda has also made a Music & Sound Mod already. He's been really helpful in the comments and the Steel Division Modders group which you should join.

You need to place your music files under Assets.

Then you change the path under GameData>Sound>Settings>PerpetualMusic
Just like when you are replacing sound files. If you do this right the music/ sound will play in a random order and start with your mod. Other than that i dont think you can control it.

I hope this helps.

Hi there !

I'm trying to add music to my mod but i'm against a wall now. After searching for some fitting music on the net, i've finally found an interesting playlist. The issue is that when I try to generate, it shows me that bug message :

Code: Select all

SoundStreamVolumePowerSample.cpp(310) : ASSERT RELEASE FAILED : locMagnitude<=1.0f

I understand that there is an error somewhere, maybe with the tracks themselves, but I don't know what the error message is reffering to.

Here is my code for ConfigPerpetuaMusic.ndf :

Code: Select all

Perpetual_Music_SD_1 is SoundStreamModded( FileName = 'GER1.wav' )
Perpetual_Music_SD_2 is SoundStreamModded( FileName = 'USA1.wav' )
Perpetual_Music_SD_3 is SoundStreamModded( FileName = 'GER2.wav' )
Perpetual_Music_SD_4 is SoundStreamModded( FileName = 'UK1.wav' )
Perpetual_Music_SD_5 is SoundStreamModded( FileName = 'GER3.wav' )
Perpetual_Music_SD_6 is SoundStreamModded( FileName = 'FR1.wav' )
Perpetual_Music_SD_7 is SoundStreamModded( FileName = 'GER4.wav' )
Perpetual_Music_SD_8 is SoundStreamModded( FileName = 'POL1.wav' )
Perpetual_Music_SD_9 is SoundStreamModded( FileName = 'GER5.wav' )
Perpetual_Music_SD_10 is SoundStreamModded( FileName = 'UK2.wav' )
Perpetual_Music_SD_11 is SoundStreamModded( FileName = 'GER6.wav' )
Perpetual_Music_SD_12 is SoundStreamModded( FileName = 'FR2.wav' )
Perpetual_Music_SD_13 is SoundStreamModded( FileName = 'GER7.wav' )
Perpetual_Music_SD_14 is SoundStreamModded( FileName = 'USA2.wav' )
Perpetual_Music_SD_15 is SoundStreamModded( FileName = 'POL2.wav' )
Perpetual_Music_SD_16 is SoundStreamModded( FileName = 'Allies.wav' )

Playlist_SteelDivision is

Thank you for any advice !

Edit : I have resolved that problem. The bug was coming from the tracks being too long for some of them. I have seen that the maximum lenght for the tracks is 3 min.

Ah, thanks for this helpful info! I'm looking forward to your mod! (Personally was not a fan of the SD Music)
