Help for modding

Postby strike_lf » Thu 4 Oct 2018 08:15

Dear all,

I have some issues with Steel Division modding although I had some experience since Eugen Wargame serie.

I lately bought S.D. and anfter some skirmishes I followed all instructions to make a first mod by changing number of units for some packs and their starting phase.

Well, I created the mod => modified packs.ndf & (very little) weapondescriptor.ndf => generated the mod => uploaded it on steam (visible only to me) => updated it to be sure.

The game does not "see" my mod (or mods because I tried other times)... it is in mod center, it seems actvive but the game is still the original vanilla game.

Mod center see it...twice...but I do not why. See attached picture of my screenshot.
I can click on both voices on mod center but as soon as I leave mod center only 1 voice remain active, that without magnification lens. Quite strange, indeed,

I tried other times but without any other result...only original game. Probably it is something stupid I forgot but I do not understand what goes wrong.

Could you help me? Thanks a lot in advance!

OK, I solved the double repetition of my mod (conflict between local folder and steam download of the same mod).

However also with a single mod there is no change in game.
From observation ofother steam mods I see that they are codified as *.ndfbin files, but I do not know why my mod was not formatted in a similar ndfbin file. Any explanation?

Otherwise I can try to open ndfbin files using modding suite of wargame modding community...but find where card and unit descriptions are is not an easy task. Suggestions?

Seems correct. Double check everything.

Make a new mod. Don't upload to steam. Don't worry about ndfbins.

Just make changes (probably avoid the DLCXX folders as they contain duplicates of some files), generate mod and activate. When you activate the mod press apply and let it restart.

If it doesn't work they it's more likely to be an error with how you made the changes. E.g. there are single player and multiplayer versions of divisions and packs.

_MULTI seems to be used for skirmish and multiplayer and is the one to change (not _MULTI_MULTI either)
