Somethings i would like to see in the sequel.

1# Aside from some new game modes, the same game modes cross over from SD1, for example i prefer the Breakthrough mode than the default mode.

2# More camera options for the replay- like being able to have a cam follow a plane and be glued to the tail or wing, a tank you could have a view just above it as if the driver turned out etc. Shell cam etc.

3# Since the maps will be bigger- would like to see FOB where you could have a medical tent and perhaps means to do some tank repairs. Send wounded back in jeeps and lorries etc, more so for veteran units. Also truck convoys could bring fuel and food to the FOBs, and refuel trucks are used to refuel tanks etc (an aspect that could be toggled on/off in a game setting if players want to keep things more simple).

3# Multiplayer Community events-
TLDR; Something along the lines of a online campaign similar to Total War, Red Orchestra in terms of a theater of war map that is claimed by a side after a fight on a map. Losers pick where they will defend next. However this could be different in that 100s of players play over a weekend on the same map either 1v1, 2v2,10v10 (whatever they prefer) and the game will total all the wins and loses and determine the overall winner. Then we wait for the following weekend to do the next map, faction whose turn it is to choose a map can vote during the week. Draws are determined by total loses of units.

More detail;
eg. a large theater map like Europe or big chunk of it where players choose a faction and stick to it through out the campaign. To keep players to a faction (and not flip over because they are on a losing side) perhaps some sort of progression with that, to unlock bonuses not available outside of the event and equal on both factions. Bonuses that only drop at the end of the community campaign. Maybe cosmetic skin pack and/or unique leaders/Aces like the reward for signing up in the newsletter).

The theater map itself could territory representing the maps, which could have strategic rewards (dynamic- so that when the event is re-run in the future it will be different in that aspect. Dynamic weather is another idea as well if weather will come into SD2) you win and take territory x on the global theater map (which could be updated on a browser) then winner gets a bonus for next battle that all players of that faction gets perhaps only for the next battle or it could be a bonus that runs through out-- which means the losers might choose to counterattack the following weekend (Counter attack can only occur once consecutively).

Win on maps that have enemy airfields that they have to defend and if they get destroyed and the enemy has less air units to use in the next match etc.

Players could be allowed to play in this event 3 times over the weekend, maybe using ranking to get paired with evenly matched opponents.

There could be a regional map for that weekend on the browser where each hour it is automatically updated showing progress by using the similar front lines on the map. So players can login in and view how things are shaping up perhaps with some stats and other images showing where the most kills have been etc.

The global theater map could have pockets of regions representing actual maps we play on, and perhaps a side would want to keep them all connected, like in Company of Heroes for example taking small territories on the battle map is important to keep your supply points coming in. Something like this could be represented on the global map where a faction would want to keep a supply line of territories linked- and the enemy if losing might try and retake territory that breaks off this supply.

I'm sure other players could have ideas to make this more interesting as well. But i think it could be a great community event giving players a sense of purpose and looking forward to the next weekend to push and gain more territory overall or perhaps retake some.

Sorry for the ramble. Its late, so i hope some of this makes sense or at least you get the general idea.

Sometimes I thought WarGame Online would be a great product - and would solve issues with matchmaking too. But it could be very challenging to make and polish through all possible issues and rough edges.
