Crucial Feedback (gamebreaking stuff)

Postby Warrior044 » Fri 21 Jun 2019 21:54

1. Make Singleplayer gbattles saveable - yes i am aware that makes it bottle to cheat by just loading but those battles takes up to 45 minutes, sometimes you HAVE to stop but you cant. and when you get attacked you can get attacked on mutiple fronts, means you can spend 1 /2 hours without ANY chance of saving.

2. Either move the "start battle" button to a corner or make it that you need to confirm your choice, i cant count how many times i had to fucking cut the game and restart from last (often too far away) saving point because i accidently came onto the button while being in the middle of placing units and defenses.

3. (Optional) make it possible to see what kind of units attack you. when it is your turn you can see enemy battallions compositions, but when its the AI's turn you just see which battallion attack you but not what they are made off. noone can exspect you to memorize every enemy battallion so either make players scout them or allow us to check which units you are actually< gonna face

4. Tutorial.... seriously gentleman you bring out a really fine strategy game with cool new idea... but a lot of stuff is not really sef exlaining so add a tutorial please EXSPECIALLY for the army general! and yes i know there is a handbook but that is a very poor replacement for an actual ingame introductions in mechanics and subtile stuff (for example when i withdraw my units full speed, can the enemy run after them AND attack) and such more...

3) This kind of info would be crucial so the player can decide whether to autoresolve or fight it out themselves. (I'd think we want to autoresolve often as the battles can be long and not always interesting.) I'd suppose the player can observe the units on the campaign map in the vast majority of cases, so no magic intel given there.

4) Is an issue. This game is easy to pick up if you have a WarGame background. If you're new... good luck figuring out where to even start. A set of tutorial scenarios introducing various gameplay aspects or even just a tutorial campaign would be a really helpful aid.

The issue is twofold: first, how to even learn the basics of game mechanics, controls and such, and second, how to pick up skills so that you don't feel ashamed going to multiplayer or can enjoy all the campaigns. For the first you need tutorials etc but for the second, you have choices like the skirmish sandbox which is very highly controllable through battlegroups, but again, if you are new, it's far from obvious to you.

TBH, it would be great if Eugen could foster a culture where players naturally band together, since this easily leads to a much higher level of learning and newbie support. Eve Online had an excellent approach to this but I don't think Eugen has really made an attempt at it - any focus on such has been in tournament events and the like.

After just a day in the game I agree with topic starter on all points
1. Make Singleplayer gbattles saveable

+1 it looks like a mistake. Save option was available in all wargame games.
With SD2 Eugen added 'standart' RTS 'pause and command' button for single player, but excluded save games. That's very bad idea...

And even the manual for army general is not full. What * near unit means, what is bombard effect etc - there's lot of stuff that is not even in the manual.

Have to agree that the game is amazing, but the manual is inadequate.

i just fough 3 battles in a row, over the course of 5 hours, i wasnt able to make any kind of save during that time and at the end of the last battle the game crashed.

so hours and hours of hard thinking (which is fun, the game is really great) all gone up the universe's backdoor for nothing. My apologies but that is making the army general mode, which is the most fun part of the entire game for me, nearly unplayable.

wellk one week, no reply from any developer. guess feedback isnt as important as it used to be. a pity that the army general mode remain unplayable if you cant play up to 3 hours in a row or are willing to let auto resolve ruin your battallions,

Guess i will go for the refund then

You can quicksave in army general tactical battles by pressing F5.
