Should I buy this game?

Postby FOARP » Sat 30 Nov 2019 14:33

I really enjoyed SD1 and Wargame:RD, but only play really in single player. I see this game's on sale and am thinking about picking it up but a lot of the comments about Army General are making me wonder if I should bother - particularly the comments about the AI using artillery even on units no in sight and there being no way of saving during campaign battles.

What do you guys think?

Compared with Wargame and SD44, the single player / campaign is where SD2 really shine. The campaign (army general) is indeed spectacular compared with the previous titles.

As for counter battery of AI, you have a smart order at your disposal to command your artillery to counter battery automatically enemy arty. It is at this moment a bit too effective but probably it will be nerfed (the most deranging is in multi).

It is a good game I would recommend you to buy. Wargame teaches a lot of business strategies as well. Especially about how you can optimize your assets.

It's still very early days for SD 2 but it has a great feel and the most annoying aspects of SD 44 have been dealt with. I wish it was modern and not WW2 but even so it is very playable. Currently I am learning the feel of the game and sticking to deck building and skirmish. Once I have a decent basis for the gane I will try the campaign.

Just remember the campaign is demanding and you are much better off learning the basics in skirmish.
