I really enjoyed SD1 and Wargame:RD, but only play really in single player. I see this game's on sale and am thinking about picking it up but a lot of the comments about Army General are making me wonder if I should bother - particularly the comments about the AI using artillery even on units no in sight and there being no way of saving during campaign battles.
What do you guys think?
Should I buy this game?

Re: Should I buy this game?
Compared with Wargame and SD44, the single player / campaign is where SD2 really shine. The campaign (army general) is indeed spectacular compared with the previous titles.
As for counter battery of AI, you have a smart order at your disposal to command your artillery to counter battery automatically enemy arty. It is at this moment a bit too effective but probably it will be nerfed (the most deranging is in multi).

It is a good game I would recommend you to buy. Wargame teaches a lot of business strategies as well. Especially about how you can optimize your assets.
