[Suggestion] Multiplayer "Traits"

Postby DeuZerre » Fri 1 Mar 2013 11:57

This topic made me want to bring back a sugestion that was for W:EE.

Basically, it's about stealing an idea that's in the "Total War" series: Basically, your behaviour on the battlefield is shown on your player profile.

Examples:
Someone that wins most of its games in less than 10 minutes gets "Rusher" trait
Someone that quits the battles early gets "Unreliable" trait
Someone that buys over 50% of it initial point in a certain category gets "[category] spammer"

Someone that rarely ever quits gets tagged "Reliable"
Someone that always buys some of every category gets "Balanced player"

Etc...

It's a fun thing, I'd be for it.

If we do this it'd be cool to have a selection of General portraits from different countries and services (like the newly revealed infantry icons) with accurate uniforms to pick from to complete the RPG experience.

Depends on the worlding used that can lead into a non desireble situation where you hoard the players into a specific way of playing that You think its the correct one.

That is BAD!

All the wordings except for the bad courtesy ones need to be positive in tone - there should be no suggestion that one way of playing is "good" and another is deemed as "bad"

I would quite like it if they added historical members of command staff - and each person would have a set of command staff (decorative only...no hearts of iron type bonuses etc...) that reflects their army makeup - and maybe even be reflected in the command vehicles that are bought.

[also - brings me to another point - why isn't it a rule in the game that to deploy units from a nation - you need to have a command vehicle at least in deck for that nation?]

About the spammer trait, just because I like to place a rifle section in every building I come across near a road doesn't mean I drive them all at the enemy at once. Needs some nifty conditions there.

Just use "Commander" instead of "Spammer," like "Tank Commander," "Infantry Commander," etc.

Then the balanced trait would be "Combined-Arms Commander" or something, I'm sure others could come up with something more atmospheric or apt.

Yes and you get traits who made you kicked from lobby and so you can't play any games.
Great idea  .

Sometimes in a single evening I leave most of the games after being spammed or rushed. Playing with national deck (BAOR deck) I can't oppose these so called "strategies", so I am an unreliable player ?
No need to hide my CV for 60 minutes if the game is a complete loss. Or being reliable is being stupid and liking to do other thing while playing WEE ? I could alt-tab and launch WOT while waiting for the game to end, I will not be marked "unreliable".

If Airland battle is a true strategy game it would be good but in the case of current WEE it will not work.

What about a trait "Bad internet connection" with people disconnecting their RJ45 to leave a game ? Oh no wait, it can be a genuine disconnection ? Or "overheating computer" ....

1. ALB is "supposed" to be that playing a national deck should not disadvantage you in any way - whether that comes out in the wash or not remains to be seen.

2. Traits need to be carefully picked so that they are general, and are not leading in terms of "good" or "bad". Adding "values" and "judgements" should be left to the player.

3. A bad internet connection/computer with propensity to overheat is not exactly unfair game to be flagged up. Dropping from a team game goes on to affect the MP experience of everyone else and it should be fair to have that flagged up as a potential issue - it is up to the rest of the players/host to decide whether or not that becomes a problem for them - some will care, others won't. In addition, I think a brief TLA to show general location of connection (e.g. NA, Eur, Oce) would have helped with some of the many lag issues in W:EE.

quitters/disconnecters/dropped connection/overheating whatever reason they cannot finish the game needs to be negative!

I don't give a if your computer/INTERNET connection is crap! if I know a certain player crashes a lot then he will NOT be playing with or against me!
