Probably preorder beta afterwards judging form EE case.

And it is not free with no strings attached... feedback of testers should be mandatory IMO.

The beta at the end of March is on invitation only.

Okay, thanks but one question though, will there be an open beta?

Any particular reasons for thinking so?

The only reason to have an open beta is to advertise your game. Generally speaking the games with open betas tend to be ones that are very simple and easy to get. A second category are those that rely heavily on multiplayer. There are a lot of games that have had failed launches based on open betas. Basically open betas have to offer clean gameplay with no bugs and simply getting opinions from people on what work will need to get done post launch, or the mass server test.

SC2 for example has been in open beta for about a year now. The open beta has very much helped hype the game and will see record sales in a few days.

Sins of a Solar Empire on the other hand had a very poor open beta experience as there was very little offered to players.

Having an open beta is a risk. Focus Home/Eugen didn't host an open beta for Wargame: European Escalation and there's no reason to believe they'll have one for Wargame: AirLand Battles.

If they do I think it'd have a positive impact on the game... but don't hold your breathe, just fight Dirty-D for a beta key. He's easy anyway.
