How to use infantry?

So it is obvious with tanks I just outflank the enemy, rushing in and blasting away.
With support such as artillery I just brake enemy defense positions.
Air is used to disable random pockets of camping enemies or to fight off enemy air force.
But what do I do with infantry?
Sure I can place them in strategic spots to deflect enemy advance,
but can I attack with infantry?
It looks like they are too slow to attack..

Infantry are insanely good when garrisoned in buildings, or urban "districts". My friend and I have been taking advantage of this fact by garrisoning infantry with ATGMs and MANPADs in obvious defensive locations and it works pretty well.

Infantry are also the easiest way to dislodge enemy infantry that's garrisoned. Well, as long as you can create smoke screen for them to move closer anyway.

Infantry is for woods and towns but in offences in woods you have to turn off the LMG or otherwise they wont get close enough to fire there RPG

I'm pretty sure noone ever want to be under my command as part of the infantry. Yes they are able to be (ab)used as offensive force, but it depends of course who you encounter and what you want to do.

Most the times a strict offensive right into the enemy lines without any tank-support will be a major failure and infantry isnt meant for that at all if you encounter harsh resistance. From time to time i tend to use infantry-squads as meatshields for my more worthy units, which is of course not even close to be nice.

In theory you should NOT let your infantry run into the enemy over open space, this will cause the failure in most of the cases. But you can send a small gang at the front to distract the enemy (in their vehicles ofc), right behind them a few better infantry-troops with long-range AT-weapons and one or two scoutunits. Maybe sapery also if you got some. Just toasted enemys are good enemys. But the best is to flank your enemy with infantry. Look at the maps, look where are gaps and use them. Sometimes parts of the maps are like open doors while others are fortified as hell. People say "read the map". And distracted tanks are a nice to see for close-by flamethrower... ;)

a assault with infantry starts with them in there carriers, storm the street down and unload them very close. numbers are important. 3 to 1 superiority is a minimum more is better.

Always have some long range guns with you in the back tanks and mortars. you need lots of inf to do this kind of maneuver you need them to compensate for losses and to hold the ground you have taken. Use tanks to support inf and mortars to suppers enemy units in the back. Use smoke offensive to take LoS of the enemy´s behind your target to your units so he cant support his units not only defensive or direct at your target. Smoke works both ways you cant see and he cant see.

Also, keep good HE vehicles nearby to support them, bombart your target with arty before sending in your assault, and use smoke to cover your approach.

So... as far as I can see... infantry is really useless.
All I have to do is to Blitzkrieg the enemy with loads of cheap tanks supported by a few advanced tanks,
bombard forests where enemy infantry is camping, and rush some more after that...

Defensive: Guarding CVs, block important zones with ATGM or MANPADs

Offensive: Assault of towns only with proper support (bombing or arty) and covered approach with smoke. Reinforcement zone interdection and CV hunting

I hate how my entire advance into the 6 pointer in Telemark was halted by 40 FBJ-40s in the town. Attempts to clear with AVRE, Warrior, Fusiliers and abbots proved to be futile, the AVRE is only popping one round at a time when I force fire, and the artillery just doesnt do enough, then he calls in MLRS on me...
Tried the smoke to get close but damn those guys held long enough to arty my Sultan into Scandanavian dirt.
