Troop Carriers not for separate purchase?

Postby d00mduck101 » Thu 2 May 2013 23:51

In EE you could exfil your troops with Troop carriers like the Chinook or M113, without having to buy them with a squad already in them

Now you can't do that, and I think it's pretty dumb.

Buying a chinook to perform exfil was not only badass but useful, and being able to deploy units otherwise exclusive to infantry was tactically smart (since you could save an inf squad by only sending in Vehicles) now you can't buy troop carriers and i hate it

otherwise I'm fine with most other things

but it's kinda dumb that you had it in EE, and not it ALB

I can see it incoming and I sort of recognise it.
The army of empty transports.
It shouldn't be in the game.
It won't be missed.

Exactly...nothing like sending in the 1st Reserve Transport and Cannonfodder Meatshield Battalion ahead of the actual fighting troops. Might as well have given people penal battalions pushed forward by machine gun wielding commissars.
A Firefly killed Wittman...

It's a 17lbr, not a 76.2mm.

If you want empty transports just empty your transports and boom empty transport!

I don't think empty transports will be an option simply because it was too powerful in Wargame: EE.

What if you have infantry in, say, a town whose APC is dead, but you want to bring them somewhere farther away?

Buy a new one. Infantry are cheap.

yea, but what about buying a Chinook, or a Blackhawk

it's useful, and it's nice to be able to purchase a Bradely, and then load up units into it.

it's just dumb and can be EASILY fixed. I think it would be a real shame if they didn't add it back in.

Also, then you still have one idol Inf unit with no APC, then you have to play Taxi to get them around, it's an issue and frankly doesn't make much sense even from a deployment perspective vs a preference

They're in the right spots in armoury, I guess it's a question to whether they'll open it up to deck creation, obviously it would be silly for the majority of vehicles, unit spam shields (especially for 1$ each!) but some of the atgms and helicopters might not be so bad.

No empty transports in ALB, thank you very much! Seen enough of their abuse.

I tend to loose my infantry-transport-vehicles in wargame quit often (aslike my infantry) so i would welcome new infantry-transport-vehicles. While im pretty sure that it doesnt make to much sense to let us buy empty high-class ifv it should be possible to call in a few trucks seperatly. They do their job of infantrytransport and are worthless in a real assault.
