Too many reinforcement zones?

Postby Adolith » Fri 3 May 2013 20:15

Atm most of the maps have reinforcement all around the sides, and some even right in the middle. This makes it very easy to reinforce threatened areas or assemble an assault force right at the front lines.

Imho, this makes tactical placement of units, or using mobile reserves less important or not important at all.

Coupled with the high income it is very easy to deploy a sizable force anywhere on the map.

The only good thing I see is the promotion of armored/tank CVs to support an attack, by denying the enemy instant reinforcements. But a competent enemy with recon will see the attack coming long before the CV can block his route.

Ideas about this:
- remove some of the reinforcement zones
- make the "tunnel" zones somewhat restricted (i.e. only infantry allowed)
- slower reinforcement for zones closer to the front
- to compensate increased travel time fuel efficiency could be improved (maybe on roads only)

What do you think?

Completely agree... To many areas of reinforcement.

way too many reinforcement sectors. there's no large-scale tactics to use when your enemy can simply deploy units from another nearby location. sectors have no strategic value besides their point values.

I think they made a good choice with this. In WG:EE everyone camped because, they didn't want to lose their precious heavy tanks, because it took 5-7 mins just to get it back(Time to travel from Reinforcment sector.)

There's always a battle, and always strategy behind it.

If there were any less you have a supply nightmare as quite a few of the units can't go from the starting zone to the adjacent one without a refuel..

I love the new reinforcement zones in the middle of the map.

I don't mind the deployment zone system, but it would be good to be able to select which zone you wish to use, rather than micro'ing...that would cut down the number of reinforcement point ambushes currently occuring.

(Don't forget capture area in ALB is really HUGE it easy to safe our command vehicles from battle line)

I've found the reinforcement points, especially the tunnels, suppressible. The map edge ones can be done with the infantry skirting the map just like EE. Now with things like napalm and smoke, it's possible to suppress and advance on others.
