Cheating AI ruins the campaign...

Postby ericdude88 » Wed 29 May 2013 22:43

Ok, I play on medium settings and even so the AI obviously cheats. It always knows where my guys are, no matter how well I hide them in the city. It doesn't even need recon, because it knows the location of every single one of my units. For example, in the beginning of the game I had put some inf in the city at my spawn, so he obviously couldn't have seen it. But lo and behold after I lose the main battle due to its other cheating when it gets to the city it knows I have stuff in there and promptly smokes it. It knows where my CVs are too, even if it's the homebase CV that I camo'd in the beginning of game in rear of my homebase. It will find it with a T-80U and kill it with no recon. It is so obvious that when I spawn units, artillery shells start falling onto my spawn line, so apparently it knows when I spawn stuff (and what they are presumably). Not to mention its units obviously get a buff as my rapiers take 4-5 shots before hitting a goddang SU-25...

I've also tried killing the AI choppers with IFV carried LAAD...Technically it doesn't know what I'm carrying in it, but it does. If I charge an APC with regular inf in it, the AI chopper will shoot it. If I charge an APC with LAAD in it, the AI chopper runs away..So it knows the contents of all of my APCs too.

I really dislike this approach to making the campaign more challenging...whilst the AI is not stupid, it doesn't need that much cheating to become competitive...I want a challenging game, but challenging only because the AI is smart, not because it cheats like hell.

I'm winning the campaign so far on hard difficulty, so don't tell me L2P. It just takes away the immersion that the AI cheats so much. I feel like I'm fighting a computer now, rather than fighting a Cold War gone hot against the Soviet army/NATO army, which was the feeling I was trying to get.

I completely agree. It is extremely annoying how the AI ALWAYS "accidentally" happens across my hidden units. It happens literally every single time. Recon infantry are completely useless, and it's actually better to leave your vehicles next to roads instead of in bushes so you can quickly escape, since there is no hiding.

Which armory are you looking at? Because in the regular armory (I just checked after seeing your comment) the T-80U's optics are listed as "poor".

Perhaps the AI gets T-80U with good optics...not surprising ..

The Ai also places helicopter with the best optics all around the map lines. The reason why it knows when you spawns is proberly because it got a recon helicopter in a mountian close to your spawn.

Thought the AI does get buffs it seems even when they use units which have excepcional optics they get a even more increased view rang.

yea i just went checking the arrmory myself, but im certain when i was looking the other day that the had good or medium optics. Most have been changed in the patch yesterday or in release today. Thought to be honest i dont really play USSR. If i do play pact i play as Poland.

The IA isn't super sapient anymore ; I've seen some tanks turn their back on nearly unprotected targets, or units ignore a command on their flank because there was a forest between them.

On the other side, the IA loves to use arty as AA, I got a gazelle strike force repelled by Gvozdikas :D
They really have improved it since WEE.

Ps : the news optics are a bug, but it's only on the armory (display AA optics instead of ground ones), nothing changed on the field.

I dont get it... AGAIN a campaign that sucks!!!!
It cant be that hard! Im deeply disappointed!!! Did u ever have to play with 500 startpoints and the ki aswell? they control 3 zones, have lots of units and even jets!!!!!!
That destroys all the fun....

I almost always send recon helis along the sides of the map for my own reason, so how can it be that I'm never seeing theirs?

This tactic is perfectly viable in multiplayer, but vs AI they'll instantly spawn jets to come shoot them down. It's ridiculous. Wargame places such a high importance on recon and stealth and its own AI just blatantly ignores these elements entirely. So disappointing.

I play the AI, and you hit it on the head! No matter what or where I hide it, BAM! :x
