Trust me on this one, the battles don't resort to "Hunt da last CV... Darn" anymore.

Sounds good, please share more information as testing continues.

I had a major victory by points today, yet it said that the battle will continue on the next day.

Only total victory makes the opponent retreat.

It would have been nice to have it RIGHT on the damn release date.

These days it is common practice for game developers to release broken games, then patch later. It's just sad.

Let's just say they shifted their game design decisions: It was working as they intended, but the result wasn't what the community wanted. Therefore, they were humble enough to change the way it works (to IMHO a better experience) to suit their clients.

Hyperbole aside (since all four campaigns are perfectly playable from beginning to end and therefore not "broken"), I think another way to look at it is that some developers continue to improve a game after it is released, rather than just saying "it's done -- deal with it".

I, for one, will be happy to play through the campaigns again after the overhaul. ;)

I think it's really interesting how many people are complaining about the AI in the campaigns - I started playing a little AI campaign, but a few hours later I started playing a campaign against a friend of mine. WAB's MP Campaign is the single best gaming experience I've ever had. Sure, there's room for improvement, but playing against a person so totally blows playing against the AI out of the water (And always will, whatever you do to the AI), that I consider the AI campaign mode to be a sort of tutorial for learning the mechanics, and otherwise totally not worth playing.

Seriously, if you haven't played an MP campaign... try it, and you interest in the state of the AI will diminish significantly!

Just got my eye blackened by the AI in a battle :( Won but lost 3 Leopard 2A1's, 8 Leopard 1A4's, my remaining 4 GepardA1's, my last 2 Roland 2's, and at least 8 Marder1A2's.

Killed much greater in number, but not so much in point cost compared to the enemy, an East German armored division. And now I think I'll retire this unit for the remainder of the campaign, since I think they've been rendered combat ineffective due to loss of AA and heavy loss of tanks. They've taken part in at least 3 decisive battles now, and were successful in destroying a Motorized Rifle Brigade early on in the campaign. Hopefully garrison duty on an inland province will keep the survivors safe until the operation's conclusion :)

I've also been gutted quite handily by a Russian Motorized unit's T72's versus my Swedish S-tanks in a previous battle. Its important to play even field engagements more tactically now, and either know the enemy approach lane beforehand to prepare properly, or (ideally) form a secondary-line to fall back to when the enemy smokes your position. Most of my losses in the West German battle were a direct result of an enormous smoke barrage the AI did on my troops since I hadnt considered a second line to fall back on after they fired. Had I done so, I'd have taken not even half the casualties, I imagine. Its important to either degrade enemy arty with counter battery fire, or silence it with airstrikes if possible.

I really think folks will enjoy the new campaign AI. It isnt perfect, but its a very notable improvement over what the default one was.
