Automatic recharge cycle of T64-80.

Postby dzimmu » Sun 4 Aug 2013 19:43

Why does the game simulates the charging mechanism revolving type on the tank amx13 and not displayed the ability autoloader T64-80 to produce automatic recharge cycle (without the need of pressing the button recharging)?
Previously, developers explained that the engine does not allow to simulate fearlessness autoloader. However, even frightened amx13 makes 7 shots with a two-second delay between shots.
That is, the engine simulates an automatic cycle feature faster recharging tanks T64-80.
Sorry for my english

AMX-13 has a faster autoloader than T-64/80

Autoloader T80 may panic and charge more slowly. However, it turned out that the engine can make it realistic. And to make sure that the panic did not affect the rate of fire.

Inb4 it will break the game balance.

But hey, if the game engine supports morally stable autoloaders -- then why not?

Yup, pretty much it. At first, it seems ok - 'we'll nerf the ROF down to more realistic 6-8 rpm, but that'll be stable ROF!' but then, imagine platoons of panicked and damaged T-72s that keeps rolling at you shooting wildly! NATO tanks return fire, but eventually they're supressed themselves by that hurricane of rounds landing among them, the red tide overruns them, and finishes off the NATO tanks in almost close combat. That's something of a John Romero.

Damn, that sounds so awesome that I would at least like to try it to see how bad it is.

Balance it out by making it so veterancy doesn't affect reload time on autoloaded guns. Plus morale would still affect the accuracy of them.

According to page 9 of the official game manual, veterancy *does* affect reloading time. The following is the related quote from the manual:

"RANK: Units gain experience through battle. Ranked units have better accuracy, faster reloading and aiming speed, higher capacity of detection and greater morale."

official game manual

That thing also stated that 'forest gives cover' when in reality it amplified damage done to infantry squads hosted in it
