On posting suggestions.

Postby BTR » Wed 21 Aug 2013 09:31

Hi, I’m BTR, and today I am going to try to talk about what makes a good suggestion post.

1 Analysis

Why is this unit in need of a change? Try to compare with other units, examine replays and use logic to determine if the unit’s state is less than ideal. Ideally you should not only examine one unit, but a family of units with comparable stats, as the problem may lay in their presentation and abilities.

2 Suggestion proper

More precise and less sweeping changes have a higher chance of being examined and implemented. Ideally, real world should be used as basis for argumentation taking in account units relative performance to its counterparts. Best changes for the game are the ones that bring balance and authenticity together to enhance gameplay and the atmosphere at the same time. Changes like those are more likely to be examined by the team than a simple gameplay alteration.

3 End State examination

How would the game look after the change is implemented? Is it better than the current one? Are more units being used rather than less? Why? Questions like these are essential to answer in your post and add credibility to your suggestion. Ideal end-state should bring more unit diversity with more authentic stats.

4 Presentation

Is more important than you think. Obnoxious titles and poorly crafted posts make the moderation more likely to consider the thread to be trolling and just igniting flames. I don’t have to tell you what happens with those threads. Good spacing, good formatting and clear presentation convene ideas easier and show effort. Such suggestions are more likely to be examined.

5 Limitations

Here is a list of what is not considered by Eugen at the moment:
-AI changes
-Core mechanic changes (such as the way MLRS or supply works)
-No additional units. New units may replace the old ones such as the reshuffle of the T-62 line.
-Engine changes
-Model changes
-Texture changes

Optional
Please consider reading this. It might make some things more clear.

No, the moderation team does not make the rules. We can advise though.
