Its like those damn anti tank tree's you find in deserts, randomly places to capture the odd tank or armored asset.

I noticed this the other day and was wondering if it was intentional or coincidental.
After a cluster bomb has cratered an area units driving over that ground get the 'rough terrain' message. I though it was pretty cool.
