The problem I found very early on with playing with these historical or "authentic" decks is that, details aside, it's merely another method of handicapping yourself. The game isn't designed to make sense historically, and combat cannot be supplemented with "old" units nearly as easily in W:ALB as in real life.

Thats why its never used except for scenario games. But I do have success with my somewhat modern and authentic panzerbrigade deck as my main NATO deck. Very well balanced apart from the fact that you have no fun with airsupport....

I am by no means a war historian and haven't been in the Military, however found this thread to be great!

I have spent a long time on the net researching an "authentic" deck myself, based around (I know its later than the Era of the game) the Gulf War, in particular the UK Operation Granby.

I know we already have the 7th Armoured Brigade listed form 1983 - this is an updated one for the Brigade as used during the Gulf War, 1990-1991.

I managed to create a deck only using the units that they had and was very surprised as all of the units exist in Airland :o :D

I have spent some time locating the list below as used in Operation Granby, feel free to correct me though!

7th Armoured Brigade, The Desert Rats - Sorted by unity type (Easier to read)

What would be interesting, but a-historic, is a 80's re-enactment of Deserts rats vs Afrika Korps. It would be a nice NATOvNATO as well.
