2 very small Features request

Postby Avizor » Thu 10 Oct 2019 13:41

I would humbly request from Eugen to add 2 very small things that in my opinion would make the game better.

1º -- DRAWING LINES IN THE SCREEN.
Purpose: To improve non-verbal communication with teammates. Sometimes painting an arrow on the map to show your direction of attack or that you are receiving fire from a position on your ally "part" of the frontline, or drawing a line where you consider your "part" ends is very important and would improve the game experience with little effort.

While a system like the one HOI games have would be great, probably an arrow shaped ping would do 80% of the trick. They can be added as a small line on top of the current ping menu, something like [ <--, \ , | , / , --> ] buttons.

Current system is rather limeted. The attack ping may refer to "send you infantry in", or "flatten it with arty", or "there are lots of enemys there".

2º -- AFTER GAME CHAT, like the on on LOL for example. When you finish a game after 1h struggle your team and enemy just banish, the game is to intense to socially interact with your companions. It would be cool if when you finally can lay back after the battle you could chit chat with the people you played with. Not sure how hard can it be to make it happen.

Forgot one

-VERY LOUD PING WHEN LOBBY LAUNCHES THE BATTLES

So I can be ALT-TABBED looking at memes or doing something else when im on la lobby

This would make waiting for the game to start less of a nuisance.

In addition to the attack ping you mentioned, don't forget there is a text ping. In the text ping you can write whatever you want. I have seen people type in jokes and excuses for their gameplay into these pings and then they are visible in a youtube video replays. Now this is not an elaborate drawing system like in LOL or DOTA, but I think it might accomplish most of what you're describing you want. Maybe the easier solution is to join a voice discord with your partners, but obviously this isn't possible with the random people joining games in a lobby.

Hello.

I know about the text ping, but im not very satisfied with it. Its not very legible due to the fonts & format used, its clumsy, and forces people to express themselves in a foreign language which is a barrier. Also its hard to read when you look from a long distance, like when you zoom out to have an overview an you see the pings on the other peoples zones. As a tool is not very powerfull.

I was referring to the HOI and Victoria tool that allows you to paint arrows and lines in the map. You could use them to indicate your intentions to your team mates, like im going into this forest, and then into this town, and im receiving fire from this other place. (The lol thing is about the after game chat)

Since I am not sure that eugen is willing to allocate the resources to make it happen, i propose a simplified version, a ping with an arrow shape that is clearly visible and in bright colour. Its a code-wise trivial solution that can improve the communication between players.
