I am envisioning a NSWP ZTQ-62D. That would be rad.

But its not really a recon tank. Then again, neither are base T-55's or Leopard 1's.

If given good optics it would have to be in the recon tab. No unit has good or better optics that isn't the recon tab.

That would make it literally the only unit outside of the recon tab with Good optics. They aren't going to give you a unit that's uniquely inconsistent with RD unit design.

That said, in general I'm in favor of making recon versions of REDFOR scrub tanks. The change that gave birth to the Leo 1 and T-55 recon variants was a good one.
(and, aside, made for way funner gameplay than the current 15-20 point autocannon-recon spam environment, not that that's going away without nerfing those underpriced vehicles)

Personally, I'd love to see- without removing the non-recon versions- Good optics recons variants of the Bloc 40-point T-55AMs, NK's Sinhung, and USSR's PT-90, era-bumped one category forward to keep them out of games where they're less obsolete.

I wouldn't be necessarily against it, but it's pretty much only a BLUFOR buff. Only the T-80UM has thermals on REDFOR that I'm aware of.

This has mattered never.

All the tanks with thermals are "bad/medium" optics ingame. Medium is handed out for higher ends. And basic T-55 has better optics than an M1A2 and helicopters fly with a paper bag on their head. There's no logic other than flavour.

And flavour of the week is good optics for merida.
