for my experience
if you want to run 10v10 smoothly, you should use 4 generation of i5(intel 4 core 3.2G~3.9Ghz)
some information share with u as below links.

I do have an Intel i5-2500K at 3.3Ghz and a Geforce 560Ti.
I get similar problems as the OP. I don't have to disconnect at the end of a match though. But it does get laggy, which makes it hard to micro my units.
Lowering graphic settings has so far not helped. I use auto detected graphic settings normaly.

Will have to test the crazy workarround you suggested.

Edit
Seems to work. Idk if less units where on the field or if it really worked. Will test it again.

So after considerable research got 10v10 working the vast majority of the time. Here is how it happened:

    - Lowered Graphic settings using Eugen Presets: no amount of personal tinkering helped system utilization as much as generic medium, low or very low. In fact graphics looked better on preset options than personal choices.

    - Turned off hyperthreading. My system BIOS did not allow overclocking due to the 2600 level chipset having built in overclocking capability to 3.4 Ghz. However hyperthreading did nothing for my system or game except adding more head causing performance drops.

    - Performance setting for all graphics cards. Vid card and Intel 3000 settings all set on most performance based settings. Typically the user has avg settings as baseline. Try looking there.

    - MSI Afterburner or other graphic card overclocker. Tinkered with this somewhat although do so at your own risk.

Bottom line lowered performance issue from 50% to 5% as a problem.
