Continued crusade for better British ASF

Postby Handley Page » Wed 29 Apr 2015 07:14

Going to cut to the chase, Britain has pretty weak anti-jet capabilities so to counter that lets give one of the Tornadoes an ASF. Active SkyFlash.

Now there are a few version of the ASF, you've got the:
SkyFlash 90/Rb-71A which would most likely be the same stat-wise as the normal Skyflash but F&F
Active Sky Flash which have the stats of a SuperTEMP but F&F
S225XR which was the basis of the Meteor, a replacement for the

Now, possibilities. Quite simple actually, either of the Tornado ASFs could have their current Skyflash swapped out for either of the first too but if any of them would be changed it'd have to be the F3. since it wouldn't change year and ruin cat decks.

The S225XR is an odd one because it would not really belong on a Tornado, but on the Eurofighter. So:
Spoiler : :
7700m range, 6 HE and F&F

That is all, please consider it, I am fully aware that these will never happen and I look forward to the ban that awaits me.

Personally I would have added the lightning f6 with 2 redtop and 2 aden, the fgr2 with 4 skyflash 4 aim9l and a suu23, the f4j with the same weapon loudout, and the fg1 with 4aim9g 4 aim7e2 and 7 1000lb bombs. I think these little additions would be much appreciated oh and asraam on typhoons

Oh and the f4j has to come in number 74 squadron markings motto I fear no man

Because the Eurofighter and the two elite Tornado F2s don't exist, right?

Lightning would have been cool for Cat C Decks back in ALB, though it's mostly a themed desire. FGR.2 would have been a much more appropriate unit in practically every way than the Tornado F.2, though. Either way, with the Tornado ADVs and the Typhoon in-game, there's no need for 'better' UK ASFs.

The only thing I object to, indeed, is the super-elite Tornado F.2s which devalue the F.3 somewhat (while the F.3 was the actual service model in reality and the F.2 was only a brief run with a concrete piece instead of a radar..) and the limited cards of F.3s themselves.

Also the F.3 model somehow getting screwed up in the transition from ALB to RD.

If I were to get a new missile, I'd want the ASRAAM for the Typhoon. Not least because it's a wonderful name (say hello to my ASRAAM up your tailpipe  )

I wanted US/UK partnership but got stuck with Canada. :x

This is also implying USA has a representatively good ASF lineup, which it doesn't.

You seriously bring this up in every thread possible, aren't you?

To subject matter:

Two elite tornados and eurofighters are pretty darn good for ASF, I'd say. How come you think this is considered "weak"?

Probably because fighters in general are weak; not enough loiter time, high cost, high risk. This is compounded by Britain's rather poor AD options (with no FSB2 it kinda hurts). Too bad we couldn't get a "what if" mobile Bloodhound missile the same way we got a mobile HAWK.

I bet devs were not expecting such a thread to happen when they were adding Eurofighter to the UK
