My first impressions and bug reports

-So after playing 3 battles with Chimera, I'm a bit surprised about the US firepower. Losing these 3 times because of ennemy rushes(yes I talk about AI), I was upset. Not because I lost. But because the M1203 can decimate entire armies, I lost everything in a couple of seconds. They were escorted with Abrams, and I found the Abrams pretty easy to beat, mostly thanks to Exo Soldiers. But the M1203 is still too powerful. Compared to the G6 Rhino, the M1203 is a "god". All other US units were pretty mediocre, infantry and Humvees for example.
-My units don't always shoot automatically at other ennemy units(and I don't talk about prisonners). Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.
-Talking about units balance, the M1203 and the Chimera Exo Soldiers are the most powerful units. My Exo Soldiers were more efficient than my armoured Terminators, also a big surprise I must say
-Also(and I don't know if this is normal) after capturing a bank, I saw this http://i.imgur.com/MeginjM.jpg
The Cartel emblem shouldn't be there?
-Also, there was a bizarre bug, where my Pantsir was stuck in the air. It floated 1 m above the floor, and I couldn't move it.
-I'm more often in satellite view than in normal view. The normal view is simply too small. But perhaps I'm still too attached to Wargame...

I use this thread to also pass my first-evening impressions. Didn t want to open a new topic, but you know it better.

1. I was missing general Overview.
- I didn t find my units I send somewhere on the map for example.
- Symbols are too big or too intrusive. They annoy me somehow.
- the minimap is too dark in unsighted and to bright in active pace.

- the units just dash through the screen, as they are so fast (on roads) and the camera so tight. If selecting them was the only task in the game it would not be a problem...

- I dont know clearly which unit has which range so I always run into fire with my helicopters
- A tank looks almost identical to an Anti air unit. you cant really identify them. Same with inantry.
(Yes you can, but it is a very exhausting task, considering that its not a main task, but too important to ignore it)
you only see it when they shoot rockets and not rifle shots. Act of war was easy and clear here.


2. The game ist a "minimum game": It really has the minimum requirements that are needed to form a modern strategy game. Nothing more.

- a rifle gunner, an AT-Unit and maybe a mortar or a AA-Unit for INfantry, same for Tanks, Helicopters and planes and each faction has one with another name and some minor differences, that dont suffice to make a unit "having punch"

- There is a "Wow"-effect missing, anything special besides the ressources.
- The game has no individual Identity. It is a strategy game, but it is missing a personality.
You can also conclude it to: The game needs love! And Ideas! It is too much of an Act of War-Copy, an "upgrade-Feeling" is missing considering you buy a brand new game compared to an old one.

I am really not the player who likes to give a game such a feedback.
It is love to tell you directly what I truly feel. Love isn t always nice!

You can also say, the game needs breath, endurance, air, space to unfold itself.

It feels like a worker who did work 16 hours in one piece instead of 2 pieces, and forgot to take a lunch inbetween in order to take the lunch after the 16 hours. so in the last hours, the worker is missing breath. This is how the game feels.

Take your time, eat the lunch, make slower, and then you will be more successful than providing a strategy game for the sole reason that there IS a new RTS out there.

After testing the Beta, I would say that at least one hole year developement time would be the right time schedule to make AoA something famous. Make a good intro, a video campaign like in Direct Action (But a different topic ofc! - and not just a story to have a story. Something with heart), you must clearly know that everybody is missing them from C&C so why not provide them? Even the first C&C had the aproach to a non-linar campaing by making mission branches (I Say aproach!) so you have Videos AND a nonlinear campaign... If you dont have Ideas take what is good and spice it with the eugen spices!

MAke the units "unique!" to hide tha fact that its stone, scissor and paper, theese 3 elements lay blank on the table without being decorated!

I can go on like that but maybe your feeling is already bad enough (I dont hope so!). I dont wanna punch you.
I am also not disappointed, I will still play your game. But this is a blueprint of what a gamers heart is wishing for.

Honestly, Tiger is love, Tiger is life.

If you upgrade your Tiger with all four(?) upgrades and put in in teams of 2-4 + a recon helicopter you're unbeatable.

No missile will hit you, you'll decimate everything and that for only 2500€.

Imagine, that's cheaper than an Abrams and can counter the Abrams, infantry, Arty, Planes(!!!) and even freaking AA.
If you play Chimera, play with the Tiger.

IMO it's close to OP as AA is not even a real counter for it. In pairs of 4+1 recon heli they're, IMO, unbeatable.

Well, enemy play right (even that is AI), Chimera is very strong if you can hold game for long to get large amount of upgrades. Chimera units without upgrade is just mediocre, but when get full upgrade, they can do almost everything.

I could not agree more. I miss the dark, tense and serious atmosphere C&C3 Tiberium Wars had (unfortunately C&C4 felt like a parody). When I first entered Tiberium Wars, I was introduced to this ongoing conflict, and very dark, very serious world. It immediately suggested you this kind of "wow, we've got some serious situation going on in here" feeling. It was really fun.

But first encounter with AOA was just... meh... When I first opened menu, some cheesy rock music started playing, and then I entered game, and things looked.... well... commercialized, like a shopping mall, focused on selling stuff, but not really an atmosphere. Soundtrack of randomly different mood, some units looking like theme park carts... It's clearly focused just on being RTS game, having all the elemental technical features RTS game should have, but it has no mood, no heart, no atmosphere....
