IDF typo(s) and other(s)

Postby Borscht » Fri 30 Sep 2016 07:52

1. Num-num. Whoever thought it is num-num, please recheck, it's "Nun-nun" -> "Nosaat Neshek" -> "Weapons Carrier". The best thing about that old piece of machinery is that it's still in use in deep reserves, even though they were trying to phase it out for the last couple of decades.
2. Recon HVMS with 29(!) RPM. I mean, yeah, it has next to nothing pen values, but that rof with demolish everything that has no armor.
3. I actually don't remember what else, but if I do notice something - it will be added here.

P.S. Thank you for naming the supply truck RIO. The "fun" times I've had fixing those pieces of antiquated crap...

60mm HVMS changes

Postby Killertomato » Fri 30 Sep 2016 08:07

As I understand it, the M113 carrying the 60mm HVMS cannon is currently rolling around firing fully automatically at 29 rounds/minute.

HOWEVER, I always heard and was told that it fired using large three-round clips, like CV90 or Warrior.

I also found a data sheet for the ammo:

And yeah, there is an HE round.

The Hawk Pip 2 has a date of 9999 and the PT-76 has no HE value.

1- Fixed.
2- The gun is supposed to fire 1 round every 2s, therefore (and although I am famous, legendary even, for sucking at maths) 29 rpm isn't that far off the mark. Working as intended then.

Fixed too.
Also fixed: the Israeli PT-76B do fire HE rounds.

120mm at 60 degrees? Hurr burr... Why Soviets even bothered with 115mm cannon?..

And as I can see it, 11 AP at 1925 meters is even too low value, IF this picture is correct. T-55A with same AP presumably using 3BM8, which is able to penetrate 80mm at 60 deg(at soviet standart, of course, and since it's APDS, not APFSDS, it will perform better at 0 dergees that at 60, in comparison with this uberwaffe).

Well, it is almost 30 years newer... compare 100mm BM-25 to 128mm PzGr.43.

Jane's says the same number for armor penetration for what it's worth.

1st of all thanks for the swift reply!
I just hope that it doesn't turn into an unstoppable town mopper. Especially considering it's a recon, so it has decent optics to spot inf in the buildings.
