If the timeline was extended to 1997, what prototypes would become suddenly available?
If the timeline was extended to 1997, what prototypes would become suddenly available?
What prototype units would wargame be able to get if the timeline was extended by a year to 1997? However, i'm not suggesting to extended the timeline beyond 1996.

T-95, Object 640, Invar-M for T-72BU/T-80UM

Ah, screw this. USSR has enough to add in the current timeframe. T-80UD, 2S25, Buk-M2, Strela-10M3, Tor-M1, Tochka-U, KAB-500/1500, ATGM Kornet, RPG-27, AEK-971 and many, many, many other things that we don't have because REASONS.

The problem is that the further you advance in time past 1989, the more RED/Soviet prototypes will be "what if" ones, while on the BLUE side R&D/development was slowned but we know what was in store IRL.

There is no real problem, there's enough non-implemented things even now. Just as example - Kornet. Because of what it was denied? No 3 gen ATGMs(while IRL Kornet is 2 gen)? And now we have Spike. So what would oppose its appearance even now, not even talking about 1997 Wargame?

This. I believe we're at a sweet spot regarding the era and timelimits. And besides, even with the current constraints, there's so much more that can be done.

If we extend the Timeline to the 2000s we will get french Caesar as Prototype, oh yes, that would be such a great addition!!!

I dont think this will be achievable for WG. Just imagine the what REDFOR would do against an exceptional stealth 50ecm F-22 Raptor. No Red unit would be in able to touch it in this timeframe. Even if it would cost 250CP, this one plane would dominate the sky so much, as you will never be able to attack anything. I mean you can sneak it around the map and just let it circle behind the enemy air-spawn. Therefore the M1A2s would be unchallenged in pushing, because you would never be able to launch any ATGM plane at all.

You greatly overestimate the capacity of such a plane IG.
